Angie was born and raised in Minnesota, within the heart of a music loving family. She recalls the family gathered around the radio to listen to Tommy Dorsey, Glenn Miller, etc. Mind you, she was very, very young!
She moved to Oklahoma in 1972. But it wasn't until 1990, that she visited the Greater Lawton Chorus during a membership drive. She spent a sleepless night with chords running through her head. Sweet Adelines around the world recognize the symptoms. She was hooked on barbershop harmony!
The year 2000 brought a new director to the chorus in the dynamic personality of Carolyn Mills. Carolyn had the vision to ask Angie to be her assistant director. And with Carolyn's encouragement, Angie enrolled in the Sweet Adelines Director Certification Program. In 2003, she passed all of her tests to become a certified director! In 2006, she became the director of the Lawton Harmony.
Come and experience the warmth of a director who has a genuine appreciation for every chorus member and their contributions to the chorus. Her high expectations encourage each of us to work hard to reach higher levels of performance skills, be it at competition or singing for family, friends, etc. She really likes meeting visitors and turning them into new members!
By the way, Angie sings Bass.
